ACYP.
On Friday 17 November 2023, the Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People (ACYP) co-hosted a Youth Led Disaster Recovery and Future Preparedness Roundtable in the Northern Rivers with the Hon. Rose Jackson, MLC, Minister for Youth and Minister for the North Coast.
As part of the key deliverables for ACYP, we were engaged for our graphic recording services to document the key discussions between children aged 13-24 years of age in the Northern Rivers disaster-strewn communities and key delegates who work across systems that impact on the lives of children and young people and the ACYP team.
We then further developed these key findings with facts related to the local community and disaster to illustrate the impact of the event and the recovery process through the medium of animation to be delivered at the Roundtable.
Discussion at the Roundtable focused on young peoples ideas, thoughts and experiences related to the areas of natural disaster recovery, natural disaster preparedness and what young people feel they need in their communities to enhance their wellbeing.
