From Sketches to Strategy: My Journey Into Graphic Recording

My journey into graphic recording didn’t just begin at a corporate event — it began with curiosity.

Like many creatives, I started with illustration, design, music and acting that made me a confused chameleon of direction. But everything shifted when I discovered visual thinking as a facilitation tool, not just an artistic one.

Discovering Graphic Notetaking

As I learned the skill, I watched how graphic notetaking helped people slow down, reflect, and engage more deeply with information. It wasn’t about drawing — it was about listening.

Enter the Event Space

As I stepped into the world of corporate and government events, I saw a gap. Conferences in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne were packed with insights, yet lacked tools to help ideas stick.

That’s when I very happily became an event illustrator.

Building Patch Creative Co.

Patch Creative Co. grew from a simple idea:
What if every event had a clear and concise visual record? Something that looked graphically pleasing, but also spread ideas and engaged discussion.

Today, I work with event managers and senior leaders across Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales, supporting strategy sessions, leadership offsites, and large-scale conferences through graphic recording and event design.

This journey isn’t just mine — it’s shared with every organisation ready to think visually.
