Parksville & Destination Think

Destination Think works alongside innovative tourism locations around the globe. They are experts at marketing and promote tourism destinations through modern strategy and creative execution services. Destination Think called on Patch Creative to assist with the creation of a series of six GIFs as part of a tourism campaign for Parksville. Located in Canada, Parksville is recognised by it’s sandy beaches, postcard views and world-class hiking and cycling trails. The lighthearted campaign takes a clever approach to destination marketing through having a bit of a laugh about the things that the COVID 19 pandemic prevented travellers from doing. 

Patch Creative were given the brief to create a GIF series inspired by Red Bull’s style, that played on the common incidents experienced by travellers in a humorous and relatable way. Some of these included compromising on hotel accommodation to save money and children causing a ruckus in the backseat during road trips. We established a set style and colour palette to ensure that the GIFs were cohesive and easily recognisable by their intended audience. We set to work to bring the concepts to life through digital, hand drawn illustrations and tied it all together using frame-by-frame animation.
