CWQ Brewing Co.
RAPAD engaged us to assist in the illustration and design of their logo and three beer can labels as part of an initiative to establish a regional brewery in Central Western Queensland to help promote tourism in the region. The three part series of hand drawn illustrations tell the told and untold stories of three outback towns with significant cultural history: Longreach, Winton and Barcaldine. We travelled to the region to experience the harsh Central Western Queensland environment firsthand, research the field to understand the history of the region and its towns and learn about the stories from local residents, passed down from older generations. We presented these in a bright, modern and engaging style to appeal to the target audience.
The second major part of this project was to design various pieces of marketing collateral to assist in the promotion and awareness of CWQ Brewing Co and the lager’s in towns and communities across Central Western Queensland. These included posters, flyers, coasters and table talkers. Once designed, we liaised with printers to organise the printing and delivery of each run of marketing collateral for the client, so that they could focus their attention and time on preparing for the launch. The printed materials were of high quality and were well received by the client who distributed them throughout the region to capture the attention of the local residents, communities and tourists travelling to the regions.
Longreach Lager
The new railroad of 1892 brought abundant opportunities to the bustling town of Longreach. Stephen and Margaret Tucker are remembered as graziers, entrepreneurs and early pioneers of the Western Brewery in Longreach from October 1896. They are buried together in the Longreach Cemetery.
WINTON Lager
Built on layers of geological history, opportunities were abundant above and below the ground in Winton. In 1923, early pioneer Willy Mar Snr, turned the topsoil and established the longest operating Chinese market garden and shop of any Western Queensland Town.
BARCALDINE Lager
Built on a rich pastoral history, Barcaldine prospered on the back of vast numbers of Merino sheep. By 1891 thirteen pioneering sheep shearers made a stand against poor wages and work conditions, not realising they were changing the course of Australian history.
